Attending the meeting were Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Anh Duong; Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Mai Son; representative leaders of the Provincial People's Committee Office, Department of Education and Training, Department of Home Affairs, and People's Committees of Bac Giang city and Lang Giang district; Association of Bac Giang Scientists in Hanoi; Provincial Education Promotion Association; teachers, relatives and many students of Bac Giang High School for the Gifted.

The 24th Asian Physics Olympiad was held in Malaysia from June 3 to 10, 2024, with 208 contestants from 27 countries and territories. Candidates must go through two theoretical and experimental sections, each test lasting 5 hours.

The Vietnamese national team had 8 students participating in the 2024 Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO). Notably, all 8 contestants won medals including 1 gold, 1 silver, and 6 bronze medals. Among them, Bac Giang province was honored to have two students, Than The Cong and Truong Phi Hung, who excellently won gold and bronze medals. Both of them were 12th grade Physics students at Bac Giang High School for the Gifted. At the end of July, Than The Cong and Truong Phi Hung would be two of the five best students participating in the International Physics Olympiad held in Iran.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Anh Duong congratulated and praised the results that Than The Cong and Truong Phi Hung achieved at the 2024 Asia-Pacific Physics Olympiad. At the same time, he affirmed that this achievement contributed to beautifying the image of Bac Giang province with domestic and international friends. Bac Giang was not only the leading locality in the country in terms of economic growth, exports, and investment attraction, but also had a rich tradition of studiousness with many talented people and excellent achievements in education and training. The achievements of Than The Cong and Truong Phi Hung had inspired future generations of students in particular and all people of Bac Giang province in general to constantly study and follow.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Anh Duong said that in recent years, the province had always focused on training and fostering talents. The province had built many mechanisms and policies to discover and foster talents, creating conditions for children to maximize their talents. The exam results achieved by Than The Cong and Truong Phi Hung once again affirmed the quality of the province's key education.

Believing in the abilities and experience of the two students, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee wished them to promote their achievements and continue to strive in the next journey with the immediate goal of winning a high prize in the in the International Physics Olympiad held next month in Iran.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Anh Duong called on scientists, philanthropists, businesses, Party committees and local authorities to continue joining hands to take care of the province's education towards sustainable and continuous development, for many years to come, many good students would win international awards.

At the meeting, Than The Cong expressed his thanks to the leaders of Bac Giang province and city, the Department of Education and Training, businesses, teachers, and friends for always caring, encouraging, and motivating to help him study hard and achieve many results. In the coming time, he promised to continue training and strive with determination to overcome all difficulties and challenges to achieve even higher achievements in the upcoming International Physics Olympiad held in Iran.

On this occasion, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Anh Duong presented a bonus worth 43.2 million VND to Than The Cong for winning the gold medal; 18 million VND for Truong Phi Hung for winning the bronze medal; 15 million VND for Nguyen Van Doa, the teacher directly training students to win 1 gold medal and 1 bronze medal at the 2024 Asian Physics Olympiad.

Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Mai Son province donated 150 million VND from the Trung Bac Giang Relatives Study Promotion Fund to Than The Cong and 50 million VND to Truong Phi Hung.

The Department of Education and Training awarded prizes to Than The Cong and Truong Phi Hung and teacher Nguyen Van Doa for their achievements at the Asian Physics Olympiad.

People's Committee of Bac Giang city awarded more than 30 million VND to Than The Cong; People's Committee of Lang Giang district awarded 15 million VND to Truong Phi Hung. Provincial Education Promotion Association; Association of Bac Giang Scientists in Hanoi presented many gifts to two students and Bac Giang High School for the Gifted, etc./.
