So eventually, did the results at this conference achieve the set goals, Mr. Vice President?

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Phan The Tuan: In the last period, Bac Giang province has received great attention and support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnamese Embassy in the United States and a number of central ministries and branches, helping Bac Giang organize a trade promotion conference to bring lychee and key products of the province into the US market, thereby achieving positive results, achieving the goals set by the province.

Through this conference, Bac Giang province and a number of businesses from Vietnam and the United States has connected, exchanged, shared information and experiences, especially the legal regulations of the two countries. Thereby, favorable conditions has been created for the early connection of the province's lychee fruit to the US market - a large potential market, opening up favorable opportunities for the export of agricultural products of the province.

So, will this event open up new opportunities for Bac Giang province in exploiting this potential market, Mr. Vice President?

In addition to promoting, introducing and promoting key agricultural products, especially Bac Giang lychee to the US market, the province also introduces the image, opportunities and advantages of the province in attracting investment into other industries.

At the trade event, promoting lychee consumption in the US market, in addition to affirming their commitment to show their determination to jointly promote lychee into the US market, there were also many opinions on the issue of quantity management, as well as sustainable development to maintain quality. So how does this problem pose to Bac Giang province, Mr. Vice President?

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Phan The Tuan: Bac Giang province has always determined that the quality of lychee is very important, creating the value and brand of Bac Giang lychee in the market. To achieve that, Bac Giang province continues to focus on implementing a number of solutions well. Those solutions are to support and guide litchi growers to well implement measures to plant and take care of a few litchi according to VietGAP, GlobalGAP standards, etc., towards 100% of the lychee growing area meeting VietGAP standards.

Strictly manage lychee growing area codes according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards; Special attention is paid to the codes of growing areas exported to strict markets such as the United States, Japan, EU, Australia, Singapore...

Continuing to pay attention to and focus on applying science and technology, thoroughly applying the technology of Industry 4.0 in military, creating QR Codes to manage growing area codes and packing facilities; surveillance cameras, electronic care logs; organic fabric has many outstanding advantages. Continuing to improve the preservation and processing of lychee to keep the best quality for the lychee.

So in your opinion, is this quality management problem just for lychee or even for other agricultural products?

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan The Tuan: In order to create value and brand name for Bac Giang's farmers, in the future, in addition to strictly managing to improve the quality of litchi, Bac Giang province will continue to focus on farmers. Other products - the main strength of the province, to build the image, position and quality of Bac Giang's agricultural products, which are not only popular in the domestic market but also in foreign markets.

At this time, with more than 1 month left until the lychee harvest of Bac Giang, the introduction of lychee to the US market is also the beginning of a series of consumption promotion activities of Bac Giang in the year. So, can you share the direction of Bac Giang's lychee consumption this year?

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan The Tuan: For this year's fire season, Bac Giang province considers the litchi crop to have many advantages in production. This year's litchi area is expected to be about 28,000 hectares, the expected yield is over 160 thousand tons, and the time of harvest is expected to be about 28,000 hectares, approximately from May 15 to July 30, 2022. So far, the lychee trees are growing and developing well, signaling a successful lychee crop with high yield and quality.

In order to focus on well implementing the consumption of lychee this year, the province soon directed branches and localities to efficiently implement measures, including identifying the markets, attaching  importance to both domestic market and export market. As for the export market, the province identifies this as an important market, so it soon directed the survey and review of markets, especially the traditional export markets to not only maintain but also expand the promotion of consumption.

In addition, the province is also interested in new and potential markets. Recently, the province has successfully organized a conference to introduce lychee consumption to the US market, which has created a great image and spread in trade connection, opening up a potential market for lychee exports.

The province also attaches special importance to the domestic market, in order to well implement the domestic consumption of lychee. The province soon directed to connect and work with corporations, trade centers, supermarkets, wholesale markets, and distribution systems throughout the country. The province also surveyed and signed a contract to consume lychee for farmers, looking to deploy solutions for implementation of the consumption plan.

With many proactive and positive solutions, Bac Giang province hopes that the litchi crop in 2022 will be successful. On this occasion, the province wishes the ministries, central branches and localities, especially the media agencies, to continue supporting information and propaganda about the image, value and quality of Bac Giang's litchi not only in domestic market but also foreign market.
