An excursion on the Khe Chao Lake

Khe Chao Lake is located in Tau hamlet, at the foot of Ha My pass and about 25 km from An Chau town. Ho has a water surface area of 27 ha and an area of water basin of over 6.5 km2 with 1 million 287 m3 of water supplying irrigation water to 264 ha of agricultural and forestry land in the area. A natural forest surrounded with an area of 636.6 ha is to create the aquatic resource for the lake, which has been strictly zoned and protected for tens of years. The forest is now allocated to the Son Dong Protection Forest Management Board for zoning and protection.There are many kinds of precious trees such as: Lauan meranti, apitong, beech, magnolia ; many trees have a diameter of 30 to 40 cm. There are many animals such as: wild pig, deer, squirrel, stork and heron ...

When coming to Khe Chao lake, visitors can use the tourist boats to tour around the lake. In the morning sun, the boat glides on the lake. The mountain ranges are undulating and looming in the thin mist in the distance. The lake water is blue with sky clouds; Suddenly, a flock of wild ducks from the water flies into space sounding the chatter sound. After enjoying the charming natural scenery, visitors can join with other types of entertainment such as swimming, diving, pedaling goose boats, picnic, camping on the forest ... Fishing is also another fun for many people when coming to Khe Chao Lake.

It is a large  and deep lake, where there are many big fish; therefore many fishermen are in and out of the province often coming to here, especially in the summer or holidays. Fish can be grilled next to the lake. If you do not have the ability to fish, there is another way is that you can buy fish caught here to enjoy the herb barm wine(rượu men lá) imbued with upland identity highland.

When coming to Khe Chao Lake, visitors not only mix with nature but also can explore the culture in the life of the ethnic groups such as Kinh, Tay, Nung, Dao, San Chi, Cao Lan, Muong and Hoa in this place. One of the places that visitors often visit is the historical relic such as Luc Lieu Communal House  (Luc Lieu Hamlet) for worshiping the general of Dao Khai Tran Ngoc (historical and cultural relics of the provincial level). Luc Lieu Communal House  kept two nominations by the King under the reign of King Khai Dinh in 1917 and 1924 for Dao Khai Tran Ngoc due to his many contributions in fighting foreign invaders to protect the Northeastern border of the Country.

In recognition of his merit, the local people built the Communal House  and worshiped him with the holy Cao Son and Quy Minh as the Tutelary God of the village. Every year, on January 15^th of the lunar month, the People's Committee of Long Son commune solemnly holds a traditional festival to commemorate the gods and the general who had the merit of protecting the villagers and the country. In the festival, besides the sacrifice, there are folk games such as Vietnamese opera, antiphony, swinging, wrestling and Chinese chess contests./.
