Attending the opening ceremony were Editor-in-Chief of Pioneer and Children’s Newspaper, Head of the Award Organizing Committee Nguyen Phan Khue; Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Mai Son; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nghiem Xuan Huong; Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Truong Quang Hai.

This year's National Youth Football Tournament attracted the participation of 38 teams from 30 provinces, cities and units across the country. In particular, the Bac Giang group had nearly 500 officials, coaches, and athletes from 11 teams including Bac Giang, Luxury Ha Long, Hanoi, PVF-CAND, Hanoi Football Club, The Cong Viettel, Bac Ninh, HADUWACO Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Phu Tho, Nam Dinh.

Teams were divided into 2 groups with round robin competition to rank in each group. The matches would take place from now until June 16.

Along with the Northern region qualifying round held in Bac Giang, the tournament was also held in Quang Nam and Binh Duong provinces. The National Final Round would take place in Dak Lak province from July 1 to July 15 with the participation of the 16 best teams in the qualifying round.

According to the assessment of the Organizing Committee, the teams coming to this year's tournament were all carefully prepared with the best players from localities and units, promising to bring exciting and dramatic matches.

The National Youth Football Tournament was part of the national competition system jointly organized by the Pioneer and Children’s Newspapers and the Vietnam Football Federation for the past 27 years. The tournament had high professional quality, giving children the opportunity to practice and foster their love of football; thereby, helping to discover and foster potential factors contributing to the development of Vietnamese football in the future.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, home team U13 Bac Giang took the field to compete with U13 The Cong Viettel team. At the end of the match, the two teams drew 0-0.

Previously, on the morning of the same day, the opening round of the Nestlé MILO Cup national Children's Football Tournament (U11) took place at the Bac Giang Provincial Gymnasium. The Bac Giang group qualifying round with nearly 700 officials, coaches, and athletes from 19 teams in the Northern region would take place from June 5 to August 6, 2024.

At the end of the qualifying round in the three provinces of Bac Giang, Quang Nam and Binh Duong, the 16 best teams would be selected to advance to the final round held at the Bac Ninh Provincial Multipurpose Stadium from July 24 to August 6, 2024./.
