Pottery craft appeared in Bac Giang centuries ago represented with products of a village in the Red River Delta on the banks of Cau River called Tho Ha village and other brand names of pottery products including Ngoi village, Quang Minh pottery or Bac Giang pottery. All of these products are created with folk style and unique feature of rural culture.

Pottery of Ngoi village belongs to Tu Mai commune, Yen Dung district, Bac Giang province. Compared to many other Vietnamese traditional pottery brand names, pottery of Ngoi village is a new name. However, pottery of Ngoi village affirmed its trade brand with its unique and simple features but rich in national characters establishing its own style which is popular for both domestic and international market.

Different from Bat Trang pottery which is painted and decorated in colors or Phu Lang pottery only polished with enamel, Ngoi village pottery is decorated with lively embossed patterns on unique brown ceramic material by the artists. All of these designs are embossed patterns. Another unique product of Ngoi village pottery is statues of folk culture which is popular with statue of Chi Pheo, Thi No and Lao Hac characters.

However, the most unique and popular part that is also the competitive strength of Ngoi village pottery is big-sized wall painting with embossed designs. Ceramic decoration is based on some famous types of folk paintings, which are facing the risk of being lost like Dong Ho or Hang Trong paintings and other regional cultural features nationwide.

Pottery products of Ngoi village have been used for plenty of construction works nationwide and exported to Japan, India, Egypt and Europe., etc.
