Tho Ha is a village of long tradition where retains features of an ancient village in the Northern Delta with various cultural values. The local people are industrious, skillful, sensible and creative at working. While Tho Ha used to be well-known for pottery, now rice paper (banh da nem) replaces pottery to become a specialty of this village.

A unique feature of Tho Ha village which distinguish it from other villages is that the local people live on handicraft for generations. Many centuries ago, Tho Ha was famous for pottery. After ups and downs, it faded at the end of 20th century. With industrious and creative people who never surrendered any difficulties, the local people continued to seek for new opportunities. They had to work very hard and went to everywhere they could to learn and bring their home village many kinds of handicraft such as rice- noodle making, candy making, rice alcohol making, and small trading. However, it is hard to explain why rice paper (or banh da nem) making has such a close bond to this village and people here. At the beginning, banh da nem was only supplied within the village or the commune, then its name became popular for many people. Dealers come to the village everyday to buy the product and sell to Bac Ninh province, Ha Noi and Lang Son province. Naturally, it has become a craft close to Tho Ha villager.

Currently, there are about 800 households at Tho Ha village with around 3,600 people, 400 of which live on rice paper making. In good condition of workers and weather, about 4.7 million rice papers are sold daily. Despite of economic depression, production and trading of the village are still kept stable because rice paper is considered an indispensable product. Thanks to technology application, rice paper making becomes much easier than before. Local people are using making machine instead of making by hand which help to increase capacity and quality of the product. With current price, each laborer gains average income about 7 to 8 million dongs per month.

In addition, Tho Ha people are also trendy towards new crafts. Bac Giang province has been well-known for Ke dry cake (or banh da) which is crispy, flavor and have buttery taste. Recently, Tho Ha people have learned to make banh da and banh da Tho Ha (Tho Ha dry cake) has become famous in the market.
