Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan The Tuan worked with Lang Son province on supporting and connecting lychee exports to the Chinese market.

On the morning of May 10, Mr. Phan The Tuan - Vice Chairman of Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee worked with the People's Committee of Lang Son province on supporting and connecting lychee exports to the Chinese market. Accompanying were leaders of departments and branches: Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Foreign Affairs, Office of the Provincial People's Committee and Luc Ngan district.

Welcoming and working with the delegation were Comrade Doan Thu Ha - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Lang Son province and representatives of departments, branches, the Border Guard Command of Lang Son province.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan The Tuan said that in 2021, lychee consumption in Bac Giang province will reach nearly 216,000 tons, of which 90,000 tons will be exported mainly to the Chinese market, particularly, the amount of lychee exported through Lang Son province reached over 53,000 tons. In 2022, the lychee area will continue to maintain 28,300 hectares, the output is estimated at 180,000 tons, the expected harvest time is from May 20 to July 20, 2022.

 

Currently, Bac Giang province focuses on directing lychee growing areas to ensure quality and safety without residues of clean pesticides and not Covid-19, especially for the 149 growing area codes exported to the Chinese market. At the same time, direct the provincial Departments of Industry and Trade to coordinate with the provincial Departments of Industry and Trade to well perform the management of production, processing, packaging, transportation and people and vehicles involved in lychee transportation and consumption.

In order to export to the Chinese market smoothly, he asked the Provincial People's Committee and functional agencies of Lang Son province to help organize a bridge point and attend an online conference on lychee consumption in Bac Giang province, which is expected to be held on 25 May. At the same time, create conditions for arranging and guiding the transshipment area, a separate area for people and means of transporting lychee of Bac Giang province while waiting for customs clearance at the border gate area. Prioritizing lychee export channels at border gates: Huu Nghi and Tan Thanh and consulting with Chinese localities to create favorable conditions for opening priority green channels and reopening Coc Nam and Chi Ma border gates.

 

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan The Tuan also asked the Border Guard Command of Lang Son province and border gate management agencies to continue supporting, creating favorable conditions and guiding entry procedures for foreign nationals. Chinese traders enter Vietnam to come to Bac Giang province to survey and negotiate to purchase lychee; coordinate to appoint a focal point to participate in the Bac Giang lychee export support working group.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee Doan Thu Ha affirmed that Lang Son province has been implementing synchronous solutions while controlling the epidemic closely, and continuing to promote coordination and companionship with provinces to promote the export of agricultural products across the border.

 

To take the initiative in exporting lychee, the People's Committee of Lang Son province has directed the Management Board of the Dong Dang - Lang Son border gate economic zone to hold a meeting with relevant departments, branches and businesses dealing in wharves and yards at Tan Thanh border gate, accordingly, asked the yard business to arrange and rearrange the yard in a scientific way, to reserve an area for lychee products and have specific signposts for the entrance to this area; arrange more number of tractors and specialized drivers to meet the demand for customs clearance of goods; functional forces continue to implement the channelization, regulate vehicles openly and transparently and give priority to fruits, including lychee. Besides, the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son border-gate economic zone also discussed with Bang Tuong town government to consider extending the clearance time of the day to increase customs clearance capacity.

 

Ms. Doan Thu Ha said that Lang Son province has fully prepared conditions to organize connection points to promote Bac Giang lychee consumption. At the same time, it is also proposed that Bac Giang province actively regulate the quantity of cloth trucks to Lang Son, based on the actual clearance capacity of the border gates in order to avoid a long backlog of goods, which is costly and wasteful.

 

On behalf of the leaders of Bac Giang province, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan The Tuan thanked and appreciated the coordination and connection of Lang Son province in lychee export, and wished the two provinces to strengthen information, jointly supporting each other in socio-economic development in general and lychee export in particular.

 

At the end of the meeting, the leaders of the two sides noted the proposals made in the working session, and agreed to continue to closely coordinate, develop and implement immediate as well as long-term solutions to bring lychee export smoothly to China, becoming a model of inter-provincial cooperation in agricultural export across the country.
